Perceive – *ahem* PROCEED with Creativity!

backperception.pngOkay, so last night up until the small hours of this morning I got a burst – explosion if you will – of creativity.  I was up putting my creative energies to work on some ideas I had floating through my mind, but never got around to doing – you know the ones right?

So once I started, I could not stop… though around nearly 2 AM this morning my body was starting to “poke the bear” urging it for some shuteye.  I did manage to get my cafepress shop up, which is pretty plain at the moment, but, not to shabby for a rough draft start.

I put my first creation on a tote bag, a woman’s shirt, and a magnet. I have other ideas still . . . more on those later.  I also found an interesting site by Seth Godin, called Squidoo – so filled with this creative energy, I also put up my first “squidoo lens” and managed to put it up in less than one hour, mostly cause of my indecision.  I’ll refine it some more later, mostly because I don’t believe that anything is perfect.  It is like saying you are an expert at something.

For some, being an expert is quite prestigious, in that they believe they have accomplished something.  I think that is a cop-out, as I don’t believe in experts or that you ever stop learning enough to become an “expert”.  In either case, I enjoy the things I put part of myself in, no matter how small.  If recognition comes my way, it is wonderful and I appreciate it wholly, if not, at least I will have accomplished something I set out to do, and THAT to me is something to be proud of.

As far as the little pieces in my cafepress store, I am just having fun and hope some would enjoy the pieces enough to purchase them.  Some say that I am an artist, I just say I “dabble”.  Some say I am a great listener, I just rather be a good friend.

2008 will not only be a year of learning, but one of great creativity! :D

Perceive with Caution

To perceive is to suffer. – Aristotle

I have often wondered if perception is the new discrimination or excuse.  I have to admit I had the thought that perception was an evil word.  However, when used correctly, it can change things positively.  On the flip side, when used in a negative way, its effects can be disastrous.

So perhaps perception is not an evil word after all. Perhaps it is the weilder of the perception that has the choice of what to do in a given situation with that power, that choice. And so, I leave you with yet another quote to ponder. . .

“With great power there must also come — great responsibilty! - Stan Lee – American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former Chairman of Marvel Comics.

Gifts

GiftsWith the holidays approaching, everyone is searching for the perfect gift to buy for their loved ones, friends and colleagues. However, if you think about it, each and every one of us has special gifts, in that we are all unique, even though we may not notice or accept it.  As Bon Jovi says in one of his songs titled I Am, “It takes a while to learn to live in your own skin.”

We need to remember that we are who we are and though we may be able to adapt and change, being “you” is what matters most in this world of the superficial, shallow and cliched. It took me quite a few years to learn to live in my own skin, but the sense of self is more of a gift than anyone can receive for any holiday.

The gift of being true to oneself and knowing that in the deepest part of ourselves, we are at peace, is the truest gift of all.

Aristotle

aristotle-francesco_hayez_001.jpg One of my favorite philosophers is Aristotle.  I find him facinating and enjoy his voice of thought.  One of the quotes I always remember is the following:

¨Happiness depends upon ourselves.¨

We are truly responsible for our own happiness or lack thereof. Find happiness and be happy, for life is truly too short to waste.

The Muse Is ¨In¨

The first post in a blog always seems to be the most difficult, especially when you have so much to say.  But, to begin with, I will just say that this blog is dedicated to my rants, raves, musings, mischief and pretty much anything that I find appealing that comes across my selected path in the moment.

I hope you find my little blog interesting and hope you visit again soon.
